I was 29 years old, 45 lbs overweight, in pain and miserable. Despite having had 4 surgeries on my left knee, and major back issues from a car accident, all by the age of 17, I knew I had to change the course of my life. Inspired by my big sister Beth, I started training for a triathlon. A couple years later, many sprint and Olympic distance tri’s under my belt, down 40 lbs, I felt I had plateaued. And I was bored. Then I found CrossFit.My ex boyfriend had been obsessed and I was just scared. It looked so gnarly and tough and I wasn’t sure I could handle it. Which is ultimately why I knew I had to do it. I started with pushups on my knees and a green band for pullups. I was quickly hooked by the constant results as payoff for all my hard work. And the community of friends between the three boxes I have trained in have become incredibly special to me.Three years in, the progression, both physically and mentally, is difficult to put in words. CrossFit, specifically at Brazen Athletics, as a catalyst for revealing and building character is unparalleled. Not only are we changing our bodies, we are changing our thoughts and changing our worlds!! I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my passion and be a part of so many people’s journey to wellness and to fitness here at Brazen Athletics.
