In my head, I’m 25 years old. I want to do things 25 year olds are physically able to do. My mind doesn’t feel old, but a year ago, my body was telling me a different story. So I knew if I was going to change my life, it had to start there. Last January, I joined Brazen Atheltics. My son John has been a member for a few years and he encouraged me to give it a try. I have been a member of other gyms in the past, but never really saw a change, no matter how often I went. Brazen was different.
From day one it was clear that this was no ordinary gym. The first thing I noticed was that I never had to do anything alone at Brazen. Both the coaches and fellow gym members were on this journey with me. That fact both excited me and terrified me at the same time. I was slow, out of shape, and overweight. I had a lot to overcome and wasn’t sure I wanted anyone to watch as I did. But at Brazen, no one judged. Instead, they came along side me, encouraged me, pushed me and celebrated with me as I began to see change. In fact, I have found that just when I think I can’t push any harder, someone is there to tell me I can. And it has made all the difference. At Brazen they connect physical health with your ability to overcome life’s challenges with grace and strength. They teach you that as your body gets stronger, an inner strength develops as well. This holistic approach is very unique and continually inspiring. In November, I turned 52 and I am the best shape of my life. I am thankful everyday for my Brazen family. They helped make me strong.
